Emergency removal of trees in San Jose's Circle of Palms

The city of San Jose began the emergency removal Thursday of all 32 palm trees that make up the iconic Circle of Palms. The city started removing the trees at 10 a.m., with the work expected to take up to nine days. All of the palm trees are in decline, according to the city, and about 15 are already dead or dying.
